New Jersey MENTOR Honored By Lawnside Borough for Volunteer Service

07/31/2015

Lawnside Borough, N.J., recently honored New Jersey MENTOR for its volunteer service to the community. At their monthly meeting in July, Lawnside Borough Council members presented Catherine Flack, Office Coordinator, with a proclamation acknowledging the organization’s work in cleaning up Lawnside Borough Park.

The cleanup project was part of The MENTOR Network’s third-annual national Volunteer Day in April, when a team of volunteers from New Jersey MENTOR spent the day beautifying the park, raking and cleaning debris from trails.

“We believe in giving back to the communities in which we live and work,” said Joanne Kirk, Executive Director of New Jersey MENTOR. “Our employees’ willingness to pitch in is a reflection of their desire to improve quality of life for others, as demonstrated in the compassionate service they provide every day. We were honored to participate in this project and for the chance to be of service to Lawnside Borough.”

On Volunteer Day, New Jersey MENTOR and its partner REM New Jersey also sent volunteers to The Community Food Bank of New Jersey and assembled snack packs for the Boys and Girls Club. They were among the nearly 2,400 volunteers completing 50 service projects across the country, with volunteers including employees in 17 states as well as consumers, families, friends and foster parents of The MENTOR Network.
