I have met few people with the perseverance that PK has.  She sees the potential in every individual and every situation, and her efforts make miracles happen.

Patricia Kane, Director of Operations, Intellectual and Developmental Disability Services

NJ-PK-Bio(1)Patricia Kane has worked tirelessly on behalf of children and families as well asindividuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities for more than 15 years.  Her passion for helping others, including her special ability to work with youth involved in the juvenile justice system, has led her to take on challenging roles in public and private sector organizations, including working as a Case Manager for the Reflections Treatment Agency, a Vocational Coordinator for GoodWill Industries and Director of The ARC in New Jersey to name a few.  Now she is Director of Operations for New Jersey MENTOR, where she is known as “PK”.  She oversees the organization’s residential services for at-risk youth and people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

When PK arrived at New Jersey MENTOR in 2008 she quickly established herself as a leader in the organization and successfully expanded the Specialty Group Home program, which provides intensive supports to youth with complex medical and behavioral needs.  In her role as program manager, she challenged her staff to create nurturing, supportive environments for each child, built a network of community supports around the program and empowered the young people in her care to live safely and successfully in the community.  Through her efforts the Specialty Bed program has nearly doubled.

In her current role as Director of Operations, PK draws upon her extensive experience in both children’s and adult services to help lead the organization’s deinstitutionalization project and successfully transition individuals from the state’s developmental centers.

Patricia received her bachelor’s degree and her Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Northern Alabama.
